TORONTO, Feb. 28, 2025 – Signal 1 announced today that it is joining the Coalition for Health AI (CHAI), a private‐sector group dedicated to developing best practices and frameworks that ensure quality, representation, and ethical standards in health artificial intelligence.

“We are incredibly proud to be joining the CHAI community. From the start, Signal 1’s mission has been to enable better and more sustainable care through the responsible use of AI technology. We’ve purpose-built our Health AI Platform for the healthcare industry in order to give hospitals all the tools they need to safely and responsibly deploy, manage and govern AI solutions across their enterprise. We are excited to work with CHAI and its membership to help healthcare organizations harness AI’s full potential while ensuring that every solution meets the highest standards of trust and accountability,” said Mara Lederman, co-founder and COO of Signal 1.

Signal 1 and CHAI share a deep commitment to advancing responsible health AI that prioritizes patient safety, ethical practices, and operational excellence. Signal 1’s focus on trust and accountability aligns with CHAI’s mandate to establish and promote ethical guidelines and industry standards. This strategic partnership is poised to accelerate the safe and effective integration of AI into healthcare systems, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes and operational efficiency.

“I am thrilled to welcome Signal 1 to our growing community of organizations committed to ensuring responsible health AI for all of us,” said Brian Anderson, CHAI’s CEO. “We are driven by the expertise and diverse perspectives of our members together with the feedback of our broader health ecosystem and the public. We look forward to working together to unlock the potential benefits of AI, on a foundation of trust and safety.”

CHAI brings together health systems, patient advocates, researchers, professional associations, start-ups, and established technology providers. The coalition has established working groups focused on privacy and security, fairness, transparency, usefulness, and safety of AI algorithms and recently released a draft framework for responsible health AI open to public review.

Founded by clinicians, CHAI’s mission is to build consensus across the health ecosystem and ensure that AI technologies are both trusted and safe. The membership now exceeds 2,500 organizations, ranging from health systems and advocacy groups to academic institutions and industry innovators.
